These are a myriad of subterranean structures under the Twylight City. They are built ontop of one another, layer upon layer different eras and different races. The oldest tunnels and structures belong to the Aleshan race. The second oldest belong to the Alindi, the second newest are the Asrikar tunnels and the most recent are human tunnels. For the humans these tunnels resemble mostly a military compound/palace of some form. For the Asrikar they are primarily for storage of ages old treasure and information. The Alindi tunnels are almost seemingly religious in purpose and is also where their greatest heroes are entombed with their Saints and spirit guardians protecting the bodies.
The underground also has a large series of caverns which lead into the Deep World. These caverns hold many horrors and monsters challenging even the most stout of Heroic souls, the monsters here are more on par with Paragons. Each of the tunnels lead into at least one other direction of tunnels and caverns. The South connects with the West and the West connects with the South and North, the North connects with the Eastern tunnels. Each race and group that has occupied the tunnels has it's own style even though they have each tried to emulate what came before them.
The Western Sideseems mostly Alindi in construction, possessing most of the great tombs of the Alindi Saints. Any Alindi in this area receives a +4 on all skill related checks, due to the Saints reawakening Ancestral memories of the Alindi. Anyone with an Asrikar in the party subject to attack from the Alindi Saints, as they Saints are angered by the Asrikar betrayal. The Western Tunnels hold only a small amount of treasure as the Alindi Saints are more concerned with protecting the bodies of the great heroes and souls rather than material possession. That isn't to say there is not non Alindi treasure there though....
The Southern Tunnels Are mostly human taken and built upon Aleshan/Alindi tombs. This layer had been at one time above ground before it sank and was built right over by later settlers. The humans that had been here before had been ruled by the Pale Queen as they called her. Eventually the humans moved on after a series of conflicts with Orcs from outside, and monsters that would creep up from the Caverns and sewers. The Pale Queen and her court are still said to live down there still. Seeking to resume their conquest and to establish her sovereignty.
The Northern TunnelsAre mostly Asrikar in construction and origin. They are as functional as they are decadent in their make, and they hold a vast amount of treasure and wealth which is guarded by a slew of monsters and magic. The treasure is mostly spoils of wars more so than from any taxation. Most of that is kept in the treasuries and various houses themselves. Most of these tunnels in the Northern end have been long since forgotten and the various monsters and magic have given way to less 'tame' generations. These tunnels are the second largest.
The Eastern Tunnels The Eastern Tunnels are the oldest as a whole and are mostly Aleshan created. They are mostly underwater at this point due to an underground river finally working it's way in as well as a broken ancient aqueduct . The Caverns as a result have also caved in partially and opened the way into the cavern system as a result monsters have also found home here. The original system of tunnels is said to go all the way down to the Veil of Souls itself and to the Soul Gate. The Aleshan at the height of their power guarded these with their lives.
