The Order of High Sorcery, is one of the oldest organizations on Krynn. The Orders were first formed as an institution to train young souls gifted with the Art of Magic. The Order grew and overtime the Magi discovered that the three moons were actually gods that had first introduced the Art to the world, they became devoted to these gods. Eventually the disciples warred over their differences, the destruction they wrecked was widespread, between the Wizards War and the unaffiliated Wizards wrecking havoc the people of Krynn soon learned to distrust, fear and hate Wizards. The people of Kyrnn rebelled at the wanton destruction being inflicted upon their homes, and lives and attacked Wizards destroying them on sight before further destruction could be wrought on their precious homes and cities.
So many Wizards died and or were driven into hiding during this time that the three Orders, joined together into one Order. United their power was more than enough to scare the people of Krynn into agreeing for peace. They created the Towers of High Sorcery and devoted themselves to the study of the Art. Many of it's policies were formed during this time including their policy on Renegades and 'undisciplined' Art users. The Order has suffered many trials and tribulations over it's long course of existence.
The Chaos War and Overlords left the Order a mere shadow of it's former self. Gone are the days where Wizards actively hunt for Renegades on their own. Sorcerous, or 'wild magic' has had a tremendous bloom due to it's rediscovery upon Krynn. Warlocks have also begun to appear in growing numbers. There are many in the Order who fear a coming time of Magical Anarchy returning to the lands of Krynn once more.
The Order has begun fairly recently training warriors in the Art to act as body guards and protectors of Wizards belonging to the Order, these warriors have since begun to learn how to best blend their weapons and Spells to defeat their enemies. These warriors are generally called Swordmages. And in some cases are former members of the Knights of Solamnia, many former Knights having little choice became swordmages during the original founding.. It is a path the Knightly order frowns upon, but they do have respect for these capable warriors.
