Metal Avatars are powerful suits of armor, that someone slips inside of and pilots. Metal Avatars vary widely in appearance, though they all have the same basic function. To Protect the wielder in heavy battle conditions beyond what he or she is normally capable of. They often use a premade weapon system, and armor to provide suitable offense and defensive capabilities. A Metal Avatar, interestingly enough grows more powerful as it's user does, due to the unique synergy of technomancy involved with the pilot body. A Metal Avatar is more than a mere suit of armor and weapon system though, it is a precious resource on the field of battle due to how much they augment their users.
Metal Avatar's each have a specific template they add to a character, the characters gear (aside from weapon enhancment and specific item powers), and benefits do not apply while inside of a metal Avatar, however their battlefield experience and prowess translates into an offensive and defensive series of capabilities that make up for this.
A character retains their power use, depending on the chassis in relation to the character inside of them. A Magicka Chassis for example is built for Arcana users, and allows them to tap into energies of Arcane power while piloting an Avatar, as it "syncs" with the pilot.
A Metal Avatar also provides a special power to their users, while they are being piloted. Each Metal Avatar possesses a unique, Encounter, and Daily power that the pilot may use in addition to his or her normal abilities.

Thanos Created the Crusader during the Second Fracture when their peasantry revolted. The Crusader is often viewed as crude and lumbering by other nations it is none the less a terrifying warmachine in it's white and golden glory. Armed with a large sized warhammer (typically) and a shield befitting it's size.

Destroyer is a chassis designed for mobility and speed. Destroyer is an almost pitch black chassis for maximum stealth created originally in Aegir as a recon Avatar it also quickly proved itself as a force multiplier. Armed (for an Avatar at least) with Light weapons and a crossbow befitting its size Destroyer has since grown to be an amazingly copied Avatar Chassis.

Eviscerator is an Avatar Chassis originally designed and created in Ranashier to augment their best great weapon warriors. Clad in Red and Silver (in the original design) plates in a scale esque patterned armor. Eviscerator is typically armed with a two handed melee weapon, and is most often piloted by someone trained in that art. Eviscerator is a fairly popular chassis though it is only just recently being used in the Borderlands.

God Hand is an Avatar created to protect users of Divine Magic. It also to some degree boosts their ability to use divine magic. God Hand does not have any one country of origin that is known, they all seemed to be created fairly close together in time. God Hand's appearence varies and depends more on the god that the creator worships than any one nation or another.

Hell Raiser is a powerful skirmishing chassis developed in the nation of Aserai to augment their finest warriors and hunters. The Hell Raiser is usually armed with one of two weapon systems. Either a bow, or two one handed weapons in most cases. They are most likely to be camouflaged to the environments that the Hell Raiser's operate in. The Avatar has caught on recently, in particular the Borderlands regions as the wilderness out there, is much more plentiful and the monsters out there are usually more powerful than what is found in the more "civilized" regions.

Magicka Runner is the first Metal Avatar Chassis ever created. Founded in Kirlansar to safeguard a magic user of renowned power. Painted usually in varying shades of blue with orange runes dotting it's surface. The Magicka Runner is armed with poweful Arcana Cannons which serve as implements for any arcane magic user as well as carrying a sword for back up purposes. The Runner is easily the most distributed chassis and pretty much every other Chassis shares traits with the Magicka Runner on one level or another.

The Supreme Warbringer is a chassis developed in Sigura. Developed to enhance the power of their warlords primarily. The Chassis quickly caught on for obvious reasons. Armed most commonly with a melee weapon and clad in scale armor to evoke the imagery of their draconic heritage and patronage. The WarBringer is the preeminent in protection from Sigura and hosts an array of powerful magical communication equipment.
