Dwarves are an ancient race, that are thought to originate in a demi plane that existed long ago deep within the bowels of the world. Dwarves are said to be made of rock and earth, which is quite apparent in their steady unyielding, dour personalities. As well as their bodies especially as they age. A young dwarf is usually earthen in color, in skin eyes and hair as a dwarf ages the dwarf's skin hardens and becomes more and more like a rock. Sometimes dwarfs will even begin to grow moss on their bodies. Dwarfs tend to be short, but quite stout giving them a good center of gravity which grants them a measure of stability. Dwarves are tougher than most races physically, and are resiliant against poisions.
Dwarves have a strong affinity to Primal and Divine energies. This is partly due to their origin granting them a strong body and force of will to match. Dwarfs are usually portrayed as having no affinity or fear of nature. And while dwarfs are suspicious of many things they are not afraid of trees and such. Dwarves are however also infamous for their inability to get along with Elves which does have roots in truth that go almost as far back as the creation of their respective races. Several hard and deadly wars have been fought between Dwarf and Elf, which has sense given dwarfs a respect to avoid the deep primordial woods of the world where Elves typically dwell.
Dwarves live in underground cities usually carved out of mountains and in large extended families they call Thanes. Dwarves are slow to make friends and enemies but almost never forget either. For a hardworking dwarf almost nothing is better than spending a night with a tall pitcher of ale and swapping stories with life long friends.
Dwarfs usually adorn their wargear in bold geometric shapes that they engrave their family history, or magical protection upon. Sometimes both.
Dwarfs typically worship Nartun, or an ancestor on the world of Argoth, as dwarves are said to be guardians of the underworld and of the souls that live within it. A Dwarf typically has great respect for the departed, and will not leave a fallen comrade behind without giving them some form of proper burial, to guide their spirit back through the River of Souls. It is said the most powerful Dwarfs in the world guard the gates to the afterworld, and protect those tasked with the important deed of guiding spirits back from wayward paths.
In Talsidias Dwarfs are viewed with some fear, and awe as their presence is often seen as an omen that death draws near, or already has passed over someone. In some especially superstitious regions of Talsidias, a Dwarf's presence might invoke a panic in a small town, as they are seen as the guardians of Death itself.
Dwarves typically use, hammers, and picks as their weapons of choice, as they spend most of their time underground, mining and crafting weapons. Dwarves in some underground citadels have their own sun and forests within the mountains themselves, these dwarfs typically also carry axes on their person to also help them fell trees. Both Dwarfs also use a great deal of spears and polearms, as spears are more maneuverable in tight close quarter combat. Dwarf craftsmanship be it magical, or mundane is most highly sought after, as their metal working, stone cutting skills are for the most part second to none.
